The NCFL Grand National Tournament was held on May 23 and 24 in Albany, New York. In the final round, Perkiomen Valley High School's Karlyn Gorski defeated Walt Whitman High School's Ben Lewis on a 3-2 decision to win the tournament.
08/09 TOC
The national circuit season came to a close at the National High School Tournament of Champions, which was held on May 1 through 4 at the University of Kentucky. In the final round, Apple Valley High School's Chris Theis defeated Los Altos High School's Daniel Moerner on a 6-1 decision to become the first-ever repeat TOC champion. Trinity Preparatory School's Jake Nebel was top speaker, winning the Walter Alan Ulrich Award.
08/09 Woodward National Championships
The Second-Year and Novice National Championships were held on March 27, 28, and 29 at Woodward Academy in Georgia. In the final round of second-year Lincoln-Douglas debate, Northland Christian Schools Jared Woods defeated the Bronx High School of Science's Carolyn Clendenin on a 2-1 decision to win the tournament. Greenhill School's Apryl Giraudon was top second-year speaker. In the novice final round, Harvard-Westlake School's Ben Sprung-Keyser defeated the Hockaday School's Mollie Cowger on a 3-0 decision to win the tournament. Hendrick Hudson High School's Sophie Ruff was top novice speaker.
