Stephen Hess Wins VBT@Archer
Posted by Bietz in the Results: LD Debate (2005-06), VBT@Archer categorySANTA MONICA, CA - Congratulations to the finalists at this year’s Victory Briefs Tournament at the Archer School for Girls! After breaking to double-octafinals, Mountain View High School’s Stephen Hess and Hockaday School’s A.J. Motgi won the necessary outrounds to guarantee their place as the last two debaters standing. In the final round, Stephen defeated A.J. to claim this year’s VBT title.
Stephen Hess is coached by Eric Palmer, Navot Tidhar, and Kiwi Camara. A.J. is coached by Stacy Thomas and Tom Evnen.

SANTA MONICA, CA - Rounds 3-5 are now posted! Also, for those of you who are struggling to get a handle on the current resolution, you might consider getting the 2005 VB Tour Curriculum Packet. The packet includes not only evidence, but also lecture materials/outlines/overviews written by all of the Tour Staff, including Josh Anderson, Sarah Smith, David Lebowitz, Tara Tedrow, Doug Lieb, Daniel Sheehan, Petey Gil, Larry McGrath, Tommy Clancy and Fabien Thayamballi. The contents include: Constitutional Analysis, Justice, Framework, Case Ideas, Positions and Framework, Dealing with the Affirmative, Overviews and Negative Strategy, Introduction to Critical Arguments for the Topic, Critical Positions.

Santa Monica, CA - The first two rounds at the VBT@Archer Round Robin are complete. After settling in to the historic landmark that is The Archer School for Girls, the 28 debaters began the competition. For those of you in colder parts of the world, today it is 75 and sunny in LA!

Instructions for the VBT
Posted by Bietz in the VBT@Archer categorySANTA MONICA, CA - Tomorrow, the Victory Briefs Round Robin & Sophomore Round Robin will commence at the Archer School for Girls. The Archer School for Girls is located at 11725 West Sunset Blvd Brentwood, CA 90049. To get to the school from the tournament hotel, you should head out of The Holiday Inn and make a right on to Colorado. Take Colorado to Barrington. At Barrington, make a left turn. Take Barrington to Sunset Blvd. Make a left on to Sunset and the school is just on the right.
If you need to park, please park at the Brentwood Parking facility. You can link to it here. You should copy/paste that url into your browser. The map also includes the location of the Archer School for Girls.
Please arrive at Archer at 7:30am.

VBT Hotel Information

Our block is in over-flow and I need to tell them TODAY if they need to open more rooms. If you do not get in the block, the rate per night is $225.00.

The field of twelve debaters will compete in conjunction with the participants of the VBT Sophomore Round Robin at the Archer School for Girls on January 6, 2006.
