Lanier Achieves Middle School Threepeat
Posted by Jon Cruz in the Results: LD Debate (2004-05) categoryHOUSTON, TX - Congratulations to the members of the Lanier Middle School Debate Team who won the Middle School Forensic League National Tournament this past weekend, achieving an unprecedented “threepeat.” The team, ranked first in the nation among middle schools for the past three years, has not lost a tournament since 2002. (An official press release indicates a record of “30-0.”) The top-ranked middle school programs competed in San Antonio June 24-26 at Nationals. Lanier debaters will be meeting with the press for interviews following a brief ceremony later today.

Tara Tedrow Defends Her NCFL Title

MILWAUKEE, WI - The final round of the 2005 NCFL Grand National Tournament featured Tara Tedrow of Celebration and Douglas Jeffers of Dulles. The round was adjudicated by Lynne Coyne, Mandy Hechinger, Rose Joyce-Turner, Justin Manwell, and Fred Robertson. It was, to borrow a term from a reader’s post, the battle of the blondes. On a 4-1 decision, Tara, the 2004 champion, defeated Douglas to defend her title. Robertson dissented. Congratulations to both finalists!
