LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Tedd Woods II at Harvard-Westlake School concluded on Sunday evening with a final round between the Meadows School’s Nate Socolof and Torrey Pines High School’s Colin Scott. Paras, I’m sorry the weekend didn’t turn out the way you wanted. But you still have Harker, and if that doesn’t work out either, I know you’re going to be a boss next year and qual for sure. Keep your head up, the time will come.
Jordan, we haven’t talked very much, but letting Ryan walk over you confirms everything that I’ve heard about you. Props on being an awesome teammate.
Ryan, congrats on the qual. Our round at VBT was fun, and I’m looking forward to seeing you in Kentucky.
Daniel and Henry, congrats on the breaks as freshmen. You guys do consistently well at these tournaments, and PV is going to be pretty awesome in a few years. Keep it up.

@27
There was only one division, so since i was a freshman, I could still technically be in the novices, but I guess my speaks were good enough to get a varsity spot too. Bietz’s policy was that if a novice gets a breakworthy record (5-2) he or she breaks in varsity. That’s what happened with me and Henry.
Btw major congrats to Henry. Hitting a tough pool (Blay, fink, etc) and winning both of those was awesome freshman =]

What were the chances of Daniel and Henry showing up in the sane school year, in the same class, side by side, (ok so that was because they were two of the only boys taking French) and being both so totally brilliant. I’m so proud of these guys. Go PV Peninsula! You amaze me.

Colin, you totally deserve this! You’re kickin ass this jan feb with 4 bids and a title of a pretty tough finals bid. Very nice!!
Also, great job PV Peninsula kids. I wasn’t aware you both were freshman, that is pretty damn impressive for one of you to clear at an octos bid and both at HW, one of the better finals bids.

Congrats to Colin on winning! You finally got one :) Thanks for a fun quarters round.
And also, though a lot of people always deserve recognition, congrats in particular to the freshmen from Peninsula (Daniel you really impressed me in our partials round–most varsity debaters never get that good at debate) and to Cory Wynn for just being an all around awesome person to hang out with and debate against.

Thanks to Bietz and the HW crew for a great weekend. Wonderful hospitality, solid judging, and a well-run tournament. This is definitely a tournament worth putting on your calendar in the future.
Congrats to the Loyola and Torrey Pines crews who had, as per usual, strong showings. A special congrats to Colin for the win.
Finally, congrats to the TMS team. This was a great team weekend. Three novices in elims. Four varsity in elims. And lots of selfless efforts that resulted in Fink getting his second bid. Congrats buddy – welcome to your first of several TOC qualifications.
