Get Well, Clinton Taylor
MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. — Clinton Taylor of Mountain Brook High School was involved in an automobile accident shortly after midnight on Saturday and is currently at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Clinton has a broken right femur, head injuries and has not yet regained consciousness. He is currently in stable condition and appears to have no damage to any of his internal organs.
His teammate Mims Windham was also in the car but was not seriously injured. Clinton’s family has asked for the community’s prayers and good wishes for a speedy recovery.
A full letter from the Taylor family can be found below; a page with updates is available about CaringBridge. Please keep Clinton in your thoughts.
The letter follows.
Friends,
Just after midnight, early Saturday morning February 6, George and I learned that Clinton, our 16 year old son, had been in an automobile accident. Clinton and a friend were coming home from a debate tournament. Clinton suffered head injuries, and he is in a coma. He also has a broken right femur.
George and I have been at Children’s Hospital for many of the last 36 hours. All we can ask is that you pray for Clinton. As my minister from Independent Presbyterian Church prayed with Clinton yesterday, she said, “Lord, we pray boldly for Clinton.”
The first 72 hours are critical for a head injury. I ask that you pray boldly and specifically for the healing of Clinton’s brain. I ask for your prayers for the healing of his mind, body and spirit. Please pray for strength for Clinton, George, Malcolm, Lottice, Emma and me as well as our extended family for today, and each day to come. As I tell my 5th grade Sunday School students, God’s hotline is open 24/7.
I am also asking for prayers for Mims Windham, who was in the car with Clinton, but not seriously injured. Please pray for the staff at Children’s Hospital working with Clinton–doctors, nurses, and all other caretakers–they will truly make a difference in Clinton’s care.” Honey

Here is the latest update from CaringBridge:
“As of this morning, Clinton’s status has continued to be stable. The entire family truly appreciates the love and concern of so many. There will not be a lot to report for the next couple of days, because this is a very slow process. Your ongoing prayers for Clinton, Honey, George, Malcolm, Lottice, Emma, Pip, Bebe, Pops and Manna are very much appreciated. Again, please pray boldly for God’s healing of Clinton.”

According to the family’s CaringBridge site, Clinton passed away today. This is truly sad news. My deepest sympathies to Clinton’s family, and to his teammates and coaches at Mountain Brook. He was an excellent young man and will be missed by the entire debate community.

I am so, so sorry for everything that has happened, but I know that Clinton is with his Father in heaven watching over you now.
May the Lord bless you and keep you,
may the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious onto you.
may the lord lift up his countenance upon you and bring you peace.
Amen.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine how hard this must be on you. I lost my father just a couple years ago to suicide and I remember how hard it was to face people because nothing that anyone can say will ever bring back that unconditional love that you have for them and it will never bring them back. If there is anything that I can do for you or your family please dont hesitate to ask. you are in my prayers. God Bless..
