Bump to Debut New Traveling Fruit Cup

posted by Jon Cruz on November 12th, 2009

MONTROSE, N.Y. — The illustrious Traveling Soup Can — recognizing the top speaker at the Malcolm A. Bump Memorial Tournament — was actually a replacement for a can of Delmonte Fruit Cup that Hunter College High School opened and ate after David Gottlieb claimed top honors in 2001.

Jim Menick has commissioned a new Traveling Fruit Cup, to debut this weekend at the forty-fourth annual tournament.

UPDATE: The pictures have been updated to include the 2009 award recipient — honored on November 14 at Bump.
