Delbarton Closes Out Novice Tournament
SCRANTON, Penn. — The thirty-first annual James M. Langan Invitational was significantly expanded this year by tournament directors Brian Manuel, Taylor Roth, and Eleanor Langan. The tournament staff looks forward to further expansion next season.
In the final round of varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate, La Salle College High School’s Sean Janda defeated Elk Lake High School’s Austin Cohen on a 2-1 decision to win the tournament. Congratulations to both debaters!
Sean is coached by Raymond T. Shay and Steve McElroy; Austin is coached by Keith A. Brosious.
(As we await a picture from Pennsbury, we’ll show Sean with his Pennsylvania state championship plaque.)
The novice division concluded with a close-out from the Delbarton School’s Zachary Posess and James Weldon, who were declared co-champions. (James advanced over teammate Gregory Keiser in the semifinal round.) Congratulations!

Shout out to Sean on his championship! Major congratulations to Delbarton’s James and Zachary, teammate Gregory, and coach Bro. Kevin Tidd on closing out the novice tournament. Delbarton is a young team that has been establishing itself quickly and impressively in our area.
