What a great tournament. The pool was extremely competitive, and I learned so much just being in the rounds. The judging was superb, there was never an instance in which I disagreed with my judge's decision, nor did I ever have reason to doubt their competence. The food was excellent, especially for a debate tournament. I had a great time, and I can't wait to come back next year!

Clearly there is something in the water that whitman was drinking since they all got the swine flu post-Bronx, but nonetheless, congratulations on an amazing weekend team whitman.

Also congrats to Thurm. who knew you would go from falling asleep with Lupe Fiasco blaring in your ear to dominating on a weekly basis. good work, bro.

Good job to everyone else who broke, blay, sasha, greenhill, legried, robro, jared, janda, avi, and catherine.

Just a random shoutout to the parents at Bronx for having CRAB LEGS available on the last day.

I mean, no tournament will ever top Bronx's food. Ever. Unless they serve sushi...

I want to extend a huge thank you to Jon Cruz and the whole Bronx team. This was, as always, an extraordinarily well run tournament. The housing program is, of course, incredibly generous of the Bronx families, and the team is willing to meet any request to help those in attendance.
Congrats to Nikhil on the break and everyone else who did well.
And of course Whitman is mind-boggling.

I really just want to thank Cruz and all of the staff, volunteers, and students at Bronx Science for running such a great tournament. You guys did me and my teammates a tremendous favor by offering us spots in the tournament after registration had filled up, and for that I could not be more grateful.

Rounds were always posted promptly, the free food was great, and Bronx breaks all 5-2's; I will definitely return next year.

Many thanks to Cruz and the rest of the Bronx team for hosting such a stellar tournament. Along with the great judging, competition, and food, the tournament was run extremely efficiently. I’d highly recommend that anybody who hasn’t attended the tournament come.

Congratulations are in order for Perry and Emily for the close out, as well as the rest of the Whitman team for being absolutely dominant. Also, congrats to Blay, Sasha, Josh, Erik, Avi, and Nick for a successful weekend.

Thanks to everyone from Bronx for a great tournament. It is amazing how efficient and well run everything was. The competition was great and the judging pool was second to none. Bronx is definitely a tournament deserving of an octos bid in the coming years and I hope to come back next year.

Congrats to everyone who did well especially Erik and Catherine for representing MN and being 1-2 speakers and Whitman for completely crushing everyone.

Re:82, Without coming across like a broken record, Whitman's elim record by my count was 16-0-4-1. 16 wins, 0 real losses, 4 coach overs, and 1 loss where 2 Whitman debaters actually debated each other. THAT IS INCREDIBLE!! Huge Congrats to Team Whitman.

I don't know anyone on the Whitman team personally, but holy shit. All of you, great job this weekend. Running away with six out of eight possible bids in a ~200 person field is absolutely ridiculous. Keep up the hard work I'm sure you all put in to achieve something like this, it's certainly paying off.

Major congrats to the Whitman team on yet another incredibly impressive weekend, and to Emily and Perry particularly.
Also congrats to Blay on the bid.
Finally, thanks to Jon and the Bronx team on putting on an incredible tournament. I had a great time and definitely hope to be back in future years.

I mean obviously the old school players can't hold their own now. Top 30 KESPA zergs, imho, can take down Nada and Co pretty consistently.

It's because everybody macros like OOv now. Unless you're just insanely innovative--and have godly micro--like Boxer, the old school pros wouldn't have lasted.

Um...Charles, last time I checked, Ben makes TDA accounts for you because you can't win enough ladder games to get your own icon.

...and Ben has over three thousand wins on that 60% account. Plus he's got 80%+ accounts that win tournaments. I have no clue what you're talking about.

Go search ICCup's Revival[Zerg]--that was Ben a few seasons back, until he gave it to me. Easily B+ A- with like 50-9 stats.

....I have no clue at all why we're talking about SC here on VBD.

So, congrats to Whitman--that's just a ridiculously impressive showing. I don't know you folks personally, but even I can tell by both depth and breadth wise (for breaks) you guys are one heck of a force to reckon with.

Congrats to Ridge especially. You guys did stunningly well this weekend. Keep repping NJ.

Oh, and I hear Salman was break. That's amazing--2 years of no debating and he came back right in the thick of things.

Good job everyone!

Congrats to Whitman, Wife, JRob, Blay, Legried, and company. You all had legit weekends.

Legried/Blay, sorry for falling asleep in your round. ;) You're both dominant, and are going to have awesome seasons.

Wife, I'm sorry the pre-round pump-up music didn't work out. :) Youre still going to break at TOC.

Also, special shout out to Taylor Francois, dominating on aff at her first circuit tournament of the year!

Finally, thanks to the Bronx crew for hosting an awesome
tournament - it's consistently amazing, and it's all due to your hard work. Keep it up.

I wanted to thank Jon, the Bronx Science team, and the larger extended team of all the Bronx Science debate families. The families were so kind and thoughtful this weekend in providing homes and hospitality to our team. The Bronx army of debaters was sweeping up ballots at every turn to keep the tournament ahead of the schedule (and also providing rousing renditions of Taylor Swift songs outside of the cafeteria, which I highly approve of!). And, of course, there is Jon Cruz, who is superhuman in orchestrating this event. Whitman is fortunate to attend a lot of really wonderful tournaments each year led by some of the most caring individuals in the activity. Even so, I would be hard pressed to imagine another individual who cares more or puts more effort into the complete experience of the hundreds of students who attend the tournament. Thank you for all that you do to bring this experience for our students.

And to all of Whitman* including Karlyn, I say this a lot lately, but I could not be more proud of you. Not so much for the wins which are cool and all, but for how you support each other as a team (and put up with my Taylor Swift and Black Eyed Peas singing!). Just getting to be a part of all yall do is really an honor.

I just wanted to thank Jon Cruz and the Bronx students and parents for hosting such a well-run tournament this weekend. The quality of competition was very impressive, the food was great, and the tabroom ran very efficiently (thanks to all the runners who put up with my late ballots).

I think I speak for the Palo Alto team in saying that we are very glad we made the trip to New York and got the chance to take part in the Big Bronx this year. Congrats to all the students who bid, Avi and Nikhil for breaking, and of course the Walt Whitman team on the well-deserved closeout.

Hey to defend myself, Julian, I stopped playing competitively two years ago.

I get bragging rights though--I played with Bisu on west and I've won one game, BO5, against Nada.

It's hard for me to imagine a better team weekend. Congrats to Perry, Emily, Caroline, Jane, Karlyn, Daniel, and Marshall for a spectacular overall performance. Also, congratulations to JRob, Blay, Thurm, and Sasha for debating particularly well. Finally, a big thank you to Anjan for not only winning three Coach's awards this weekend, but also doing it in style. You sacrifice so much to help us, and we could not appreciate your support more.

Sorry for the triple post...
Janda, congrats (for the millionth time). You will qual, without a doubt. To repeat what I said to Marshall, one of your judges raved to me about you, and that's really saying something. People take notice of debaters who are great at what they do, and you are one of them.
Congrats also to Catherine, Erik, and JRob and fantastic performances!

Huge congrats to everyone on Whitman. I can not believe how dominant each of you is, and it's really awesome to be able to say that OUR teamwork amazes me. Every single person works so hard, both for themselves and for one another. You know a team is something special when they are literally asking each other for work to do to help out.
Marshall, one of your judges raved to me about how amazing you are. She was truly happy to have judged you. That is awesome, and so are you.
Imas and Caroline, way to be ballers. Congrats on the very well-deserved bids :)
Jane, you continue to dominate, and it's really impressive. You're going to have such a sick year, keep it up.
Emily and Perry, watching you guys debate this weekend was great - you are both phenomenal debaters, and this came as no surprise. You rock.
Anjan, your wonderful singing and mean jokes are an integral part of Whitman's success. But really - thanks so much for what you do. I have no idea how you are physically able to function because of how little you sleep; you work harder than anyone I know. Clearly, it pays off. You are the best.

I echo all the praises of the efficiency, hospitality, judging, competition, and food at this tournament. It was easily one of the most enjoyable tournaments I've attended.

Congratulations to Steve Stinson, Dylan, Karlyn, and Sean. And to Whitman, of course, for dominating.

I really wish I could've made it to this year's tournament, especially since everybody and their mother was there. Prior obligations prevented me from doing so, but I am glad to see that it was another successful tournament for Jon and the Bronx crew.

Congrats to the Whitman crew for a dominant performance, as well as to coaches Anjan and Todd.

I usually don't opine about bid levels, but I will say that if there's any quarters bid that deserves to move up, it's Big Bronx.

I'm just a huge diehard CJ Entus fan...so, if you want a more accurate comparison, I'd go with STX Soul.

I wish I could say I'm surprised at the results of the tournament/round robin, but I'm not. At all.

HUGE congrats to the Whitman crew at another astounding weekend. Particularly to Ben for winning the RR.

And congrats to J-Rob on a great showing.

@ Jason Zhou

I don't like SKT1's recent performance at all. I believe CJ Entus has the most potential/is doing pretty well recently. They have some of the most streaky players...ever.
If you were talking about all-time, Air Force ftw.

Then again, I played back when those plays were the most dominant force.

If you want, I'll play anybody here for fun sometime online.

Sarang.aCe or Sarang[3.33] or Sarang[SHIELD] @ West

I'm pretty sure at least one of those didn't expire, haha.

First of all, thanks to the entire Bronx team/parents/coaching staff for putting together a very efficiently run and nice tournament.

Also, congratulations to Karlyn, Ross, DImas, Caroline, and Erik for making it to the bid round. And, congrats to Jrob and Thurm for semis and, of course, major congratulations to Perry and Emily for closing-out.

In addition, I know it's been said before, but just a major congratulations to the entire Whitman team for absolutely dominating this weekend and grabbing six bids at a quarters bid tournament.

Congratulations to Jon, the Bronx team and parents, and to everyone else who made this tournament possible! It was run very efficiently, the food was wonderful, and all the tab room staff and volunteers were really helpful. I had an awesome time judging and being at the tournament, and I would definitely encourage those who haven't been yet but are considering coming in the future to absolutely do so.

Congraulations on a great tournament Mr. Cruz this was one of the best run tournaments i attended. The food was very good as well.

Congraulations to carlos, zoe and Apryl and tanya on either making run off rounds or clearing in a very tough pool, i can see bids in the future for these debaters.

And congrats to Ali huberlie on allowing us to attend with perspectives and getting home 1 hour early.

And lastly but not least to the great coaching of Aaron Timmons and neil conrad they really helped a bunch and we will def have more sucess in the future.

@45 wrong, so wrong. CJ has a few A-class players (Iris, Skyhigh, and imo Movie) but only one S-class player who's capable of winning a starleague (effort). Whitman is much more like SKT1 which has a handful of s-class stars (Bisu, Fantasy, and Best who is slumping hard atm) and a few players who can turn on the intensity and really perform when they want to (Hyuk? Canata?).

For non starcraft folks, congrats to Whitman on being a ridiculously dominant team (it's been said before but not losing a single outround. really?), and to Perry and Emily for closing out a very competitive tournament.

Congrats to Catherine on a great RR finish and the Peter Colavito award, you're incredibly deserving and I hope those make up for your early loss.

A few debaters I'd like to single out in addition.

Blay - I'm pretty sure this is the first time I judged you and I can't say I wasn't impressed. You're also the only one who took advantage of the easier route to getting a 30 from me (it's also the one I like more). Congrats on the bid.

Erik - you are one my favorite debaters to watch this year, I don't think I've watched you and not been entertained. Sorry that I've now directly and indirectly prevented you from getting a giant gavel and a traveling trophy but you're definitely one of the best speakers this year.

Patrick - this is the first time I've even heard of you but your round in front of me was really impressive. The 29.5 I gave you was the highest I gave all tournament (if you exclude Blay's 30 since he got +1 for running arguments I like). I'm hoping to see you more in the future.

Thanks Jon for running a great tournament. I enjoyed many great debates and tastes of the world this weekend, in addition to a fantastic feast a Japonica. Bronx was one of my favorite tournaments as a debater and my first time back as a judge/coach didn't disappoint.

Congratulations to Jon and the Bronx Science team on running an absolutely spectacular tournament! The quality of both the competitors and the judges was amazing, and I am so grateful that I was able to attend Big Bronx for the first time in quite a few years.

On a personal note, thanks to Jon for enabling our attendance at the tournament. I remain very grateful that there are people like Jon in the community who are willing to help out programs like Perspectives even when dealing with the responsibility of an enormous tournament.

Finally, congrats to Jalon on his first outround! We are so proud of you.

I just wanted to thank Bronx Science for hosting such a great tournament - the free food and free coffee were awesome, the hospitality was great and they did their best to try and keep everything running on time.

What I enjoyed most of all was the level of competition. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to debate awesome people like Catherine Tarsney and Eric Thurm. I really had fun.

Wow. Congrats to Whitman on breaking seven debaters and not losing a single outround - that is a sweet mix of domination and teamwork. Huge congrats to Perry and Emily on closing out - you guys are awesome! Karlyn - keep rocking it - there are plenty of bids coming your way. Also major congrats to Sarah and Rachel for winning PF! And Jess and Ross for 4th and 2nd in congress! Finally, congrats/thanks to Anjan - this kind of success doesn’t happen by itself.

@20: They probly debated so one of em could bid. You have to debate and win an outround to get it, so a walkover would mean no bid. idk for sure tho, that would just make sense
