iDebate: VBD via iPhone
posted by Jon Cruz on July 5th, 2009
SHORT HILLS, N.J. — Dan Hassin, a rising sophomore at Millburn High School and an avid reader of Victory Briefs Daily, has designed a free iPhone app that includes a native Victory Briefs Daily interface — rendering our site much easier to access on an iPhone — as well as a convenient debate timer, instant judge paradigm access, and a tournament breakdown tool to determine roughly what records are needed to break.
iDebate can be downloaded by clicking here. Many thanks to Dan for putting so much effort into this program and giving it away — for free — to the debate community.

K this is a sick app. You can also make notes about a particular judge from their paradigm page (so you could record things like how high the speaks they gave you were, thoughts about decision, how you prefed them at a tournament). This is a great invention, so thanks dan!

Oh man, I remember the feeling of inconvenience having to set the timer before each speech.

Wow, Dan, this was a brilliant idea. I really wanted to make something like this, but now you’ve gone ahead and done it. It’s a very thorough application and the attention to detail (even regarding your website marketing) is fantastic. I love the timer and I’m going to convince other iPhone/iTouch people on my team to use it. Unfortunately, until the day comes when debaters get recruited by Apple, it’s a little too esoteric to win an ADA, but keep up the good work anyway.
