BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Congratulations to those who advanced into Round 7! This article will serve the home base for Lincoln-Douglas debate coverage from Round 7 to the conclusion of the tournament. For pairings for Rounds 1 through 6, click here.

The National Forensic League uses a double-elimination system in debate; beginning with Rounds 7 and 8, contestants are eliminated once they have have received two losses. Pairings for the elimination rounds are available here.

Round 15 has been posted.

All of the debaters in Round 14 have sustained one loss from Round 7 on, with the exception of Stephen Lurie of Cherry Creek High School, who is undefeated.

    My understanding is that it works the same way byes at your district tournament work. If you have lost to the undefeated at one point during outrounds, i believe you are eligible for a bye.

    As you posted above, Shawn Tuteja has been defeated. He is now out, but he has done so well advancing all this way and he did great at the district tournament. As only a sophmore, he will have two more years to capture a crown. Good Luck to the rest of the competitors!

    I don’t know Mr. Lurie, but he’s seriously holding it down for the State of Colorado! No one from our state will have gotten as far as he’s guaranteed in LD. If he wins this round or the next one, it’ll be the 1st time a CO LD student has been in the finals of the NFL tournament.
