Sandra was a really incredible person. I met her in the Fall of 1996 when I was a freshman on the MBA team. We used to travel all over the country with BGA and through the course of that I got to know Sandra Davis incredibly well.

Her dedication to the activity and her students was just unreal. Even when she was unbelievably sick, she would still travel actively and work tirelessly with her students. I’m not really sure how she was able to do, but she did and did it with remarkable class.

In the forensics world, Sandra was a great judge. She was as fair as they come and truly could judge anything well. Whether it was Duo Interp, extemp, or LD, you always knew you were getting a great judge who would judge the round without any bias.

I will always remember Sandra for her great spirit and love for the activity. I recall working in Tab at the Glenbrooks in IE in about 2002 or so. Sandra had been really sick before the tournament and seemed very weak. We were assembling final round panels and I suggested her for the finals of Duo. When I walked out to hand her the ballot, she was just beaming with joy after receiving it. She told me no less than 20 times how much she enjoyed the round afterwards. She just truly enjoyed coaching and judging forensics. Her ballots were thoughtful and incredibly helpful.

On a more personal note, Sandra was a great friend. She certainly took an active interest in my life despite the fact that I never even attended or coached for BGA. She was a warm person who departed our Earth far too soon. She was a great inspirational force who will truly be missed. I truly wish more people could have known just how amazing a person she was. I’ll miss her a great deal.

    Godspeed Sandra Godspeed

Ms. Davis was an incredible person. From my first trips as a freshman to yearly national qualifiers at BGA to travelling with her and the BGA team, she was the most genuine and selfless person I knew in the activity. Like Adam, I was a student at MBA, yet she helped me and our other debaters with the same vigor and enthusiasm that she showed for BGA students. In fact, I never discovered that she was ill until Mr. Tate told me–she never mentioned her illness and always exhibited an incredible amount of personal strength.

I never knew Ms. Davis as well as Adam or any of the MBA debaters who came before me, but I will definitely miss her.
