Shawn Tuteja Wins AFEA State Championship

Hamilton Bloom Wins J.V. State Championship;
Brandon Herrin Wins Top Novice Honors

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama Forensic Educators Association State Tournament was held this year at the Courtyard Marriott and on the campus of Saint James School, providing a culminating event for one of the historical powerhouse states in forensics.

In the final round of varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate, the Altamont School’s Shawn Tuteja defeated Mountain Brook High School’s Carter Bielen to win the state title. Congratulations to both debaters!

Shawn is coached by Shaun Thislethwaite; Carter is coached by Jeff Roberts.

Mountain Brook took home top school honors, its first championship sweepstakes in fifteen years.

In the junior varsity tournament, the Montgomery Academy’s Hamilton Bloom defeated Mountain Brook High School’s Mary Sellers Shaw to win top honors. Congratulations to both debaters!

Hamilton is coached by Jay Rye; Mary Sellers is coached by Jeff Roberts.

In the novice division, Saint James School’s Brandon Herrin defeated Mountain Brook High School’s Clinton Taylor to win the novice championship. Congratulations to both!
