Pat Donovan is IHSA State Champion
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — On the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University, some of the most talented Lincoln-Douglas debaters in the Land of Lincoln converged to debate for the state championship. The final round brought together Glenbrook North High School’s Pat Donovan and New Trier High School’s Andrew Chesley in a battle for the Illinois High School Association state debate title.
On a 3-0 decision, Pat defeated Andrew to win the championship.
Pat is coached by Greg Malis, Ari Parker, Mike Roytman, and Christina Tallungan; Andrew is coached by Adam Groner and Liz Scoggin.

Huge congratulations to PD, Chesley, the two girls from Sandburg, Ian, Conway, Matt McCambridge, Sarah (great job on breaking! Great way to finish off your career!), Barrington as a whole (I *told* you you’d break four!), and everyone else. Congrats to the entire NT crew (Chris for getting second seed, Matt McCambridge for getting to quarters and most importantly, Mr Chesley for going all the way to finals) for an incredible weekend.
Also, congrats to PD for rocking state this year. Keeping the champ between GBN and NT is always nice.
