Chris Theis Claims Second St. Mark’s Title
DALLAS, Tex. — For the first time in the twenty-five year history of the St. Mark’s Heart of Texas Invitational, a repeat champion in Lincoln-Douglas debate has emerged. Defending champion Chris Theis of Apple Valley High School faced challenger Shivani Vohra of the Hockaday School in the final round. Katie Dessi, Jo Russell, and Joe Vaughan adjudicated. On a 2-1 decision — Vaughan dissented — Chris won his second St. Mark’s title. (This is the third time Apple Valley has won the Heart of Texas.)
Chris is coached by Pam Cady Wycoff, Cherian Koshy, and Tim Hogan; Shivani is coached by Stacy Thomas and Tom Evnen.
In policy debate, Andrew Markoff and Regan Bozman of the Bronx High School of Science faced off against Anshu Sathian and Rajesh Jegadeesh of the Westminster Schools. Westminster defeated Bronx Science to claim this year’s St. Mark’s title. Congratulations to both teams!
Anshu and Rajesh are coached by Jenny Heidt, David Heidt, and Hays Watson; Andrew and Regan are coached by Kathryn Clark, David Marks, and Jon Cruz.

So many people to congratulate — Shadow Lab for yet another HUGE showing. Yall are proving true all that we thought about you this summer.
The Apple Valley and Hockaday crews for being examples for the rest of us.
Jane for picking up her third bid in three tournaments.
And most of all - to Em. Three bid rounds on 2-1s is tough; but three bid rounds on a topic that both you and I hate is phenomenal, and I know you will get yours. You are a complete champ and everyone knows it.

I’d like to echo all of the congrats from above, especially DFK for reppin’ Delta Force in the semis and Roberts for reppin’ TTU with a high octane offense.
Out of serious curiosity: will there be a tournament other than the TOC this year that will feature all of the best talent at the same tournament (preferably on a good topic)?
