Now that every ballot is sorted and tabbed and before I go off to catch up on a lot of sleep, I just wanted to thank everyone publicly for everything that was done to help this tournament.
The LBC relies almost exclusively on volunteer effort, and I truly appreciate everyone coming out this weekend. Specifically, I’d like to thank the dozens (almost 100) of Penn undergrads and law students who came out not only to judge, but also to do far less desirable tasks like sorting ballots, running, and hauling food from place to place. In the final push to sort ballots this morning, it was amazing to see people who probably should have been studying for midterms showing up in the room to lend us an extra hand.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that pretty much every judge in outrounds was either a volunteer or judging seriously past their commitment in order to make our judging pool the best it possibly could be. We couldn’t have done it without all these former debaters that were so willing to give back.
Finally, props to first-time tournament director Alex Anderson, who is not only the nicest, most personable guy on the planet, but also did a fantastic job pulling together the team to run this tournament.

I’d also like to thank everyone who was running the tournament and especially the ld division. The judging was generally excellent and everything was really well-run. This definitely deserves a finals bid next year.

There are a few mistakes in the octas results:
1. (12) Morristown AJ def. (5) Regis CK (Coulter King)
2-1 (Mike Contillo, Lindsay Dolan, *Larry McGrath) — actually, Lindsay Dolan was on bottom.
2.(13) Pocono Mountain West ZP def. (4) Perkiomen Valley KG (Karlyn Gorski)
3-0 (Corey Metzman, Stephan Serrano, *Ben Hsu) - - this has a typo of saying 3-0 instead of 2-1
3.(9) Bronx Science ST def. (8) Arthur L. Johnson AC (Alex Castro)
3-0 (John DiIulio, *Leo Mullin, Juli Kelley) - - same 3-0/2-1 typo (that is, if mullin actually sat out)
I don’t think anyone is really reading this post anymore, but I only point this out in case you care to change it.
