Congratulations to Devin on winning the first TOC-qualifying tournament of the year!
Congratulations as well to Danielle, Paul, and Tyler for rounding out the first bids of the year and for dominating what I have always heard is a fantastic tournament. We couldn’t make it this year but hope to be back in the future.
I am hoping Jane sported some red boots this weekend, and that she is now getting some well-deserved rest!

Congratulations to all and especially Devin and Danielle for an outstanding finals round.
I would like to say thanks to all who attended, judged, and stopped by to say hi.
The 20th Annual Grapevine Classic also had some special awards that were presented.
Special Service - Dr. Rich Edwards, Baylor University
Outstanding Educator - Cheryl Potts, Plano Sr. (did you know she started out being a head FOOTBALL COACH and that she is a former PROFESSIONAL tennis player?)
And The Jonathan Brody Service to Debate Award - David Ramirez, Southlake Carroll.
Tomorrow I am going to post the official statistics of how this topic broke down as far as AFF/NEG wins. By the end of the tournament - it is pretty close in percentage of wins for Aff and Neg.
Now I am going to relax and watch the opening weekend of NFL.

@ bietz:
on the aff, most people were running consequentialism with a bunch of deontology bad spikes in the framework. impacts were death of innocents during wartime, and stuff like that.
most negs were just reasons for why the aff can’t prove the statement true (ie don’t know the actor, actions can’t be morally evaluated) and of course deontology good/necessary.
