It Was 150 Years Ago Today

posted by Jon Cruz on August 21st, 2008

OTTAWA, Ill. — One hundred and fifty years ago today, the first of a series of historic debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas took place in Illinois. The two were candidates for the U.S. Senate. These debates were the catalyst for a re-match just two years later — in which Lincoln and Douglas vied for the Presidency — and, of course, were the namesakes of our activity.

You would think that in a hundred and fifty years they could have at least thought of a decent resolution.

Sorry, I wanted to protect my anonymity. Which may not make sense, since I’ve already been posting under this name, but I didn’t want that opinion to be used against me. Forgot about that though.

Okay, I wouldn’t call that an “epic burn,” but maybe I’m just more creative than you guys. My question is how would someone find out were I live without me giving any personal information whatsoever?

So your saying that if I post, people will know who I am? If that was so, then people who post as anonymous are idiots… Am I right?

No… but I am saying that people ought to be comfortable with taking ownership of the words that they speak and the actions that they take, and if you are uncomfortable with people associating your words with your identity, then keep your words to yourself.
