Fifteen of those people are in for some serious pwnage, despite the fact that the sixteenth is a lazy slacker who takes five days to write an NC.

Also, last I checked, Walt Whitman High School is not in Minnesota. If that somehow changed over the summer, we’re in for some serious hurtin’ next year :-)

I think that’s from 2003 when Mr. Conrad “shocked the world” and won the Greenhill Round Robin along with averaging 48% from behind the arc.

if somebody has no idea about the process for deciding who gets to compete at “a top tier round robin” is it not a legitimate question to ask how to apply?

Congratulations to all of the participants who were invited to this event. The field looks really competitive. I am excited to judge the RR and the Fall Classic.

I don’t mean to speak for Mr. Timmons, but I do not believe there’s an application process for this particular round robin. In my experience, Mr. Timmons consults the people who he knows and trusts in the debate community to create a list of potential invitees. Then, he invites the debaters/teams who he believes will be best for his party. After all parties accept or deny the application, he has a field of debaters that you see here.

Good luck to all. I look forward to seeing friends old and new in Dallas. We’re just a few weeks away!

    Sincerely,

    Michelin Massey

    Hey Arvay,
The way the majority of round robins work is through invitation only. Although most of them try to assemble the best pools possible, there’s generally no 100% “fixed formula” or policy for choosing the debaters who get invited. The decisions are in the hands of the tournament directors. Just try to perform your best on the circuit next year and if you happen to be invited to a top-notch rr, then great. If not, don’t sweat it.

    Good luck,
    Daniel Khalessi

And what if you’re like me and doesn’t really compete much on the national circuit given youre schools small amount of funds? Would going far (like really far, which seems nearly impossible) constitute an invitation?
