Fantastic two weeks! I can’t thank the staff and office people enough for contributing so much to my camp experience. This was the most fluid, organized, and productive debate activity I’ve ever done, ever. And for the record, Todd Liipfert and Doug Jeffers are outstanding lab leaders.
Hi to everyone, and good luck next year!

Hertz/Ramakrishnan “Hertzorama” was awesome! I know the skills I developed and the memories/people will “extend” far beyond these two weeks.

Clancy/Conrad/Gass 08 was beyond description. I’ll see you all at Greenhill.
Also, Sankar and Scoggin were the most helpful first-year-out instructors I’ve ever seen.
Good luck to everyone in the 08-09 season, and thanks to Victory Briefs for the greatest summer institute imaginable.

Cooper/Nelson was incredible. I learned, and laughed, a lot. My personal favorite 39 minutes of the 2 weeks was when ryan cooper, the only debater to ever win grenhill and st. marks in the same year, was defeated by adam nelson in his second debate round. ever. hope three week is going well for everybody, see you guys at tournaments!

Tyler/Zhou “tzballin” was tremendous. I learned far more information that I can have possibly imagined. Thanks to all the staff for making VBI an awesome experience!

Basically, VBI ‘08 was incredible… it defied all of my expectations. I met some amazing people and really had a good time, while learning SOOOOOO much about all things debate, life, etc. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who made my experience so rewarding and memorable. These last 2 weeks went by way too fast!
Can’t wait to see everyone at tournaments! :)
oh, and… ravicastillo represent.

The Victory Briefs community is amazing. The camp was fun, educational, and an awesome life experience. At first I dreaded the place– I was far from home, didn’t know too many people and thought my roommate liked hip-hop a little too much. But quickly I made friends and became close to people from around the country and I had a lifetime experience that I will never forget. Thanks Jon, Mike and all the staff members for making my first time and last time to VBI a memorable one.

Evnen/Wright/Traber was the best lab. Hands down. Anyway, apparently I’m supposed to type something to the extent of “omg i miss vbi soo much.” Which I do, of course, but I’ll do so in a much more corny way: Thanks for an awesome two weeks! I very much enjoyed my time as a cripple.

Hola. VBI was definately the best two weeks of my summer. I think it was the only time that i slep on the floor for two weeks strait. I kinda liked it. just a thought. it was also exciting because i learned about indestruco tank(which my high score is now a 34 combo) and some debate i guess. seeing the dark knight was pretty cool. Jon cruz is the man!

Thanks to all the staff members for all their help. And to the best lab leaders Lawrence and Donatti. Proving the existence of God and then proving reality doesn’t actually exist. My brain hurts.

VBI’ 08 was hands downn the best two weeks of my summer. I never in my life expected debate camp to be the BEST part of summer, maybe a great part sure, but certainly not the best. There was neverr a dull moment at vbi with the 200 debaters running around the halls and laughing to the point of tears. I hate that i’ll be a senior this upcoming year and that i won’t be able to return to VBI :( but i’ve fallen in love with the LD community so muchh that i’ll find a way back somehow :) A huge thanks to all the staff members for doing everything in their power to make everyone’s experience an amazing one!

Wow, the last three weeks that I spent at VBI can’t easily be described. But, I can say that each and every moment spent there was so worth it, and I’m really glad that I went. Thank you to all the staff members who gave up part of their summer to work with us; this camp wouldn’t be anything without its staff. I hope everyone got as much out of this experience as I did, and goes into the season and ready and excited as I am. This is going to be a great year!!
And, a special thanks to the Lewis/McGoogle lab. It was great getting to work with all of you! And I think we’re going to see some pretty great things from this group of kids!!

I just wanted to thank all the fantastic students I worked with in week 3 and especially my case mentees Danielle, Xi, Benjamin Bunny, Sasha, Nikhil, and who could forget Madeline. You all worked hard, are incredibly bright, and will have a wonderful year! And, as always, I’m so proud of you Whitman kids for how hard you worked.
If this week was any indication, looking forward to Session II!

When i got home from VBI about 100 people asked me “so how was debate camp?” and i answered them all the same, “Very intense but sooooooo much fun.” “so what did you do?” they ask, and i reply “work…….. a lot!” “so what was the fun part?” “working….. a lot!” ah well what can i say in the words of Jon Cruz “im a nerd!” oh and to all those other labs who think they were the best, keep dreaming!!!!! WARBELL ‘08!

Thanks so much to the Cooper/Nelson lab, my 3rd week casing mentees, and everyone I worked with over the last three weeks for making this year’s Session 1 the highlight of a summer that also included a week of golfing in Tucson and ten days hiking and backpacking through Japan! You really made my summer.
Have fun, work hard, and I’m sure you’ll be in for a fantastic ‘08-’09 season!

Thank you to everyone who made VBI 07/08 such a great experience! First, to Neil, Tommy and Joan for working us incredibly hard to be ready for the upcoming season. Second, to all of the students in CCG for being so supportive as well as challenging one another to get better. Third, to the rest of the amazing VBI staff who were always so willing to help. It really made a difference.
Special shout out for the 3 weekers: Thanks soo much to Anjan for being a wonderful case mentor! I learned so much from him and he was incredibly supportive. All of the students who attended week three were just awesome, I’m so glad I got to meet and work with all of you. Finally, special thanks to Neil Conrad for putting a ridiculous amount of effort into week three. He never slept to make sure everything was organized and then delivered some of the most inspiring pump-up speeches that motivated us all to keep working hard. Thanks, Neil!
I can’t wait to see everyone throughout the season and I hope everyone is having a fantastic rest of the summer!
