Todd is teaching a lab here at VBI with the 2006 National Champion, Douglas Jeffers. And this lab was set before Todd won Nationals. INTENSE.

Neat article, Todd! Congratulations again to you, to Jerry, to Gary, and to the whole Strake family.

(Even though the Chronicle can’t spell Jerry’s name.)

Is that THE national champion? Like, best in the country?

It is nice to see debate getting news coverage. Athletics receives all of the publicity. Local papers not only cover big high school games, they also cover inconsequential JV.

What school are you from, Greg? Just curious, since I think you bring up a really valid point and I’m wondering how common debate coverage is in different papers around the country.

“Liipfert’s topic was limiting economic inequality as an important social goal.”

Ahh, nice to see reporters really do pay attention.

I live in a pretty small town (<10,000 people) and both of our local papers did a story on me when I qualled to nfl nats freshman year, and a follow-up when I qualled sophomore year.

Also the Reno-Gazette Journal did a story last year when we had our national qualifier tournament which made the front page of the community section (I believe).

Actually, I care, because I asked a question and Robert answered it. Thanks, Robert!
