Jason Baldwin Wins the TOC
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The 1993 Tournament of Champions concluded with an epic final round between Vestavia Hills High School’s Jason Baldwin and Christopher Columbus High School’s Carlos Gonzalez. The final panel consisted of Les Phillips, Sue Wenzlaff, and Kate Hamm. On a 3-0 decision, Jason defeated Carlos to wrap up a perfect tournament. Congratulations to both!
Jason was coached by Marilee Dukes; Carlos was coached by Lee Myers.

Underclassmen Ann Miura of Palo Alto High School and Liz Rogers of Shenendehowa High School advanced into the elimination rounds and received auto-qualifications to the 1995 Tournament of Champions.
La Cueva High School’s Michael Erickson, who won the TOC as a junior, was defeated in octafinals. Academy of the Holy Name’s Laura Ann Fernandez, who advanced into the elimination rounds as a sophomore, was the seventeenth seed.

Correct, as noted (though not completely directly) in the text prior to the article. Josh Sheptow, who was defeated in semis, was also the top speaker as a junior.
