Come to Laird Lewis!

posted by Jon Cruz on July 4th, 2008

MYERS PARK, N.C. — “It is a bit early,” admits Jason Kline, “but the JOT site for Laird Lewis is now online. You can access it through our website. Also, we have settled on our tournament hotels and the blocks are now open…. We are really excited about this year’s tournament and have received confirmation from many out of state teams that they plan to come this year! We are expanding our debate break rounds to octafinals this year while still allowing cross entry between debate and speech events.”

The application for the PFDebate.com National Public Forum Challenge II is also available; last year’s event included the Wake Forest, Harvard, TOC, and NFL National Champions.

I believe NFA will be attending again…… this tournament really allows you to test the core issues of the topic because it tends to be more traditional meaning you can solidify your case positions before you head into some of the more technical rounds at places like emory….. for a first tournament on topic, I would really recommend it.

This tournament is fabulous. The people who run it definitely have their ducks in a row. The 2008 tournament had over 500 students competing from 45 schools and 12 STATES! 12! I will be judging for sure - see everyone there.

I can confirm that Manchester Essex will be attending in 2009. I’m hoping to bring a charter bus down with 20-30 kids (last year we flew 12 down).
