I Promise I Am Not Commodifying Debate. Really!

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Cyndy Woodhouse was outbid for an autographed VBI t-shirt at the University of Kentucky’s traditional Sunday in the South camp auction. The winner? Ft. Lauderdale’s Fred Ditzian. The shirt was autographed by yours truly at the direction of Dr. J.W. Patterson.
Fred was promised a VBD front page article. And so, here it is.
For the record, I have been told that a Jason Baldwin autographed T-shirt went for a substantially higher price.

$21 dollars i hear…
What was the minimum bid? Was there any sort of bidding war? Is there anyway I can get commission on the piece of paper in front of me that I’ve written on under the supervision of Michael Spirtos? It would certainly fetch a fine price.
Proceeds will go towards the Eating Downtown Isn’t Free Fund.

Twenty-*five* dollars. And yes, there was a bidding war. Potomac’s James McElwain and Chesterton’s Alec Turner bid fiercely until Dr. Patterson stepped in to place a cap. (The minimum bid was a quarter.)
I will make sure that a certificate with the seal of the University of Kentucky will confirm that this is indeed a real autograph. I have several similar certificates for a few of my older Star Wars autographs.

Even though Jon is totally going to be pissed that I am leaving a comment while Jane is trying to make her 5 turns even though she only made 1 real turn -just to prove I was paying attention while leaving this comment- but for the sake of Cruz points I would like to verify that I would have kept the auction going if I had to.

[…] to Fred Ditzian, there may be a more appropriate person to accompany me and J.W. Patterson in yesterday’s human interest story, and that the more appropriate person may hail from a galaxy far, far […]

I think the Baldwin shirt went for something like 40 dollars last year. I remember a bidding war with Joe Bruner winning and all of us handing him money.
