i'm guessing chris won mainly because of his argument that affirming would increase the proliferation of nukes because other countries won't be affected and some countries will want to challenge/replace the U.S.? seems like judges could vote on the NC but would really make their final decision when they see those turns, which invalidate becca's "risk of solvency" since the situation will definately get worse. well that's how i woulda decided anyway.

Wow, the 1AC is a huge link to Kato, especially considering that she reads Kato. Kato's argument is that we fear nuclear war as this catastrophic exchange of ICBM's, and this smooths over the reality of ongoing nuclear war through the dumping of nuclear waste, use of depleted uranium, etc. Becca's solution: Expose the US to the catastrophic reality of the use of nuclear warheads.

Also, Kato explicitly critiques Lifton, another author in the 1AC.

i will refer all viewers to the free commentary provided on this round in the TOC thread (somewhere in the 300-400s. it's essential for getting the real "feel" of this round.

If the judges don't mind, will they post RFD's? I'm surprised they weren't filmed- to me they seem to be an extremely important part of the round. ;)
