well…. actually, matt, apparently someone magically got onto the internet with their iphone, even though every laptop there isn’t capable of doing so - which, of course, resulted in me being called out for cheating for reading a citation from my computer haha.

Bronx Science’s Daniel Wilkofsky and Tina Ritter debated the final round of PF; we’ll know the results later tonight. The team of Lev Raslin and Rohan Jotwani was in quarters; the team of Stefan Kazmi and Laura Maschler was in semis.
Seth Teleky dropped in octas in LD.

Congrats to Seth on clearing!
Last I heard, Mike Contillo from Chaminade was in finals (I don’t know the result.) Congrats Mike. You’re probably one of the most underrated debaters in the country and you deserve this success.

Mike Contillo is the man.
A girl from Jericho won VLD.
it was a 3-2 over Contillo.
Semis, I believe, was Horace Greeley JK and…I know who the other person was but it is evading me at the moment.
CONGRATS Mike, Johanna, Oliver, Sam, Yan, and all others who cleared in Varsity and congrats to Charlotte for clearing in Novice

If anyone would like to know…
On the policy side,
Beacon won the novice states, defeating Monticello BK. Beacon was the top seed I believe.
Daniel Lee and Allen Paltrow of Bronx science defeated Beacon GF? in finals of JV.
Lakeland RW (Jason Wright and Taylor Roth) won Varsity policy, defeating Edgemont CJ (Ben Chang, Harsh Jhaveri)

Sanna Raoff (almost certainly misspelled) is the “jericho girl” who has to be complimented on a great job (considering our panel, we were quite confident it was going to be a 3-2 decision, and i’m awfully happy for her regardless - LIFA represent). congrats to klinger and joanna as well, of course.

Someone from Jericho took VLD.
Congrats to Mike for a great way to end his senior year as a finalist of New York States.
To Jesse for semis, and his yelling, and his inexplicable ability to cause people to fall asleep during his speeches.
Additional congrats to Seth, Sam, Johannah, the PF teams, the policy teams, and everyone else since I can’t seem to crack the VLD codes.

This is what I know, Seth. When I started debate my sophomore year, there was an Emre (Melis Emre, i believe) who started debate as well - as an LDer. She stopped debating in LD. If i had to guess, I would say that was certainly the same girl, for she was a member of Schreiber.

Seth — the Emre to which you refer is Merve’s sister.
I couldn’t be there in person this year, so…
Congratulations to Sana on winning the tournament!
Congratulations to Michael on another feather in his cap. I can’t add much more to what Vineet said, because he described you perfectly: “probably one of the most underrated debaters in the country.” This is a very well-deserved final round appearance.
Congratulations to Johanna Katz for making it to deep outrounds at this tournament.
BIG BIG BIG GREAT NECK SOUTH SHOUT-OUT TO JESSE KLINGER! This is the farthest a Great Neck South debater has made it in the varsity division, and this is an awesome accomplishment for Jesse and for the program. You make this old alumnus very, very proud.
On the Bronx Science side of things, special shout out to Seth, mega-congratulations to Allen and Daniel for winning the J.V. policy tournament, super job by Saieed and Paula for making it to semis in the varsity policy tournament, and, finally…
MEGA-CONGRATULATIONS to our Public Forum squad for simply dominating. All three qualified teams cleared, and our team of Daniel and Tina — the same folks who gained some notice and notoriety earlier this year for qualifying to the TOC in their first two tournaments — for winning the state championships. Great job Dan, Tina, Stefan, Laura, Lev, and Rohan…and great job to the man who deserves all the credit for establishing the PF program at Bronx Science, the G-Man himself, JOE GAZZOLA!

Post 41:
1) You’re racist
2) You look like Jane Jetson
3) You’re not funny
4) San Yun is twice the debater you’ll ever be. That means because he went 0-6 at Columbia, you’d go 0-12. Yeah, that’s right. I know math.
5) Your comments in SciRe are pointless
6) You’re not a radical feminist
7) We got the same grade on our JAPs and I didn’t read my book
8) I got an 800 on math and you never will
9) In case you ask, the Spanish quiz was hard
10) ILY and Congrats

Long Island Beasted: three out of four semifinalists were our own.
As for you guys going to CFLs, pwn and own! I only wish I could be there debating, too…but our school doesn’t sponsor ANY away debate except states. despite, jericho’s predominantly student-run program was mighty IMPRESSIVE this year. REPRESENT!

Congrats to Jericho!!! I just wanted to re-emphasize that the success of my students (I will claim them because they are amazing!) is due primarily to the wonderful leadership and skills of the upper classmen/women. The last two years have been an interesting ride coach-wise and I have had the best time cheering you on. Imagine what we can do next year!

I know it’s a tad late, but I have to give a shoutout to Jericho!! .. Guys, we not only had people that took first and second place, but we had MORE THAN HALF our team break and CAME IN THIRD!!!!! THAT IS INCREDIBLE!!
Referring up to comments 50 and 51, it is true that our team is mostly student run so all the students who help lead our team to victory should not only be congratulated, but should be proud. With that said, we would NOT be where we are today (with an AMAZINGLY successful program and wonderful team!!!) if we didn’t have our awesome coach!! She deserves some credit too!!! :)
Just a side note– Sana is AMAZING and fully deserves to be VLD winner. But, that last round between her and Contillo was SOOO GOOD and he should also be noted for the amazing debate skills he has.
YAY LIFA!
Ok this is getting long– but, yay debaters (we’re awesome!) :)
