The Cat Nats Report

posted by Jon Cruz on March 26th, 2008

APPLETON, Wis. and ACROSS AMERICA — It’s time to play catch up! Victory Briefs Daily is pleased to provide a central space, right on our front page, where readers from across America can post the results of their National Catholic Forensic League qualifying tournaments…the very tournaments that determine the qualifiers for the NCFL Grand National Tournament. This year’s NCFL Grand National Tournament will be held in Appleton, Wisconsin on Memorial Day Weekend.

Recognizing that some diocesean leagues do not hold qualifying tournaments — and instead appoint or otherwise divvy up qualifying slots — we invite those whose leagues did not hold tournaments to also list who will be attending.

This weekend featured fantastic competition for the Arlington Archdiocese.

Emma Pierson (Thomas Jefferson + WACFL Champion)
Adam Gerchick (Potomac School + Arlington Champion)
    Esfandyar Batmanghelidj (Potomac School)
    James McElwain (Potomac School)
    Christine O’Donnell (Thomas Jefferson)
    Lily Hsiang (Thomas Jefferson)

Congratulations to everyone, especially to Lily and Adam on intense rounds this past weekend. I know you both will do extraordinarily well in Wisconsin!

I don’t have records for the Washington Archdiocese but I believe Anjan will post those from Whitman who will be attending.

I think that Jared’s posting of Arlington qualifiers is slightly off. My understanding based on the results packet is that the Arlington qualifiers are:

    1. Adam Gerchick, Potomac School
    2. Emma Pierson, Thomas Jefferson
    3. Esfandyar Batmanghelidj, Potomac School
    4. Christine O’Donnell, Thomas Jefferson
    5. Lily Hsiang, Thomas Jefferson
    6. Madhu Ramankutty, Potomac School
Alt. 1: Alex Rosenberg, Lake Braddock
Alt. 2: James McElwain, Potomac School

Jon’s posting of the Washington (DC/MD) qualifiers above is correct.
