This year’s Nationals will be held in Las Vegas in June.

    Re Dan (post 7), for whatever reason there were only 3 spots in LD this year. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that about 20 fewer people competed compared with last year (down from approximately upper 50s to upper 30s), but I’m not sure.

    David and Dan - I think the number of spots is based on the number of NFL points of the schools that compete at the NFL qualifying tournament. We had fewer schools (and fewer competitors) competing this year, so our points must not have been high enough to qualify four people.

    In the Manatee district - whew what an experience :) - the qualifiers in debate were:

    1. Coral Rojas - Ft. Lauderdale
    2. Norah Ashoura - Ft. Lauderdale
    Alternate - Louis Paine

    Policy - both teams are from Fort Lauderdale, unsure of the names

    Public Forum - Coral Springs and Stoneman Douglas each have a team - again, sorry for the names

    Actually, the number of entries a district can have is not based on NFL points but the number of debaters in LD.

    To give more info here, in single debate 1- 11 entries at the District tournament is 1 qual, 12 - 37 is 2 quals, 38 - 57 is 3 quals and 58+ is insanity..i mean 4 quals. In team debate, 1 - 9 teams is 1 qual, 10 - 29 is two, 30 - 49 is 3 and 50+ is 4.

    That being said, New York State has just completed its qualifier.

    on the round 6 schems of NJ Districts, there was a coachover but the panel was listed as “Jon Cruz, Douglas Jeffers, and Michael Mangus” as a joke.

    pretty funny because everyone thought they were there.

    I think the Houston area is in the Space City district. I don’t know what the results were but they were having there qualifiers on April 3-5.
