Xi Lin Wins ASU Tournament of Excellence

TEMPE, Ariz. — Yesterday, the Tournament of Excellence, a round robin held annually before the ASU Southwest Championships, concluded with a final round between Brophy College Preparatory School’s Frank Willett and Desert Vista High School’s Xi Lin. On a 5-0 decision, the panel — Adam Nelson, Shyam Nair, Tim Sowers, Asha Sharma, and Jim Thorpe — awarded the championship to Xi.
Preliminary rounds of the Southwest Championships themselves conclude today, with the awards ceremony to be held this evening. Elimination rounds will commence tomorrow morning with octafinals.
Xi is coached by Kyle Fleeger; Frank is coached by Beth Clarke.
