Chris is Correct. The LD tournaments is Friday/Saturday. Policy Semis/Finals are Sunday morning, and the RR begins Sunday afternoon. I’ll enjoy watching the rounds this weekend, in particular at the RR. I don’t know how many rounds I’ll be able to watch during the tournament proper.

Jordan: No criticism intended. That is the case in PF, and was the case in the early days of LD (check out “Ask Cruz: Volume I” :o)), but hasn’t been the case in LD for some time.

Gabe: TRPC can be set to prevent debaters from the same geographic region (as set by the tournament) from hitting one another as much as possible. (I do this at Big Bronx, and other tournaments use this system as well.)

now seems as good a time as any to ask….can a tournament official/past participant tell me what it means in the invitation when it says that rounds 1 and 2 will be present “randomly within geographical constraints”?

also, JOT mentions strikes as something which this tourney uses. are these team strikes? individual strikes? will a judge list be available before registration?

Jon – right you are. The reason I (implicitly) asked was that I thought I saw somewhere that if a tournament has a certain number of people from a certain geographic spread they’ll get a bid at some level by default, but I guess not.

It’s big, period. Field sizes are not the sole determinant of bids. (Look at MBA and GDS in policy, for example.)
