I figured this is the most appropriate place to post this, but I just wanted to congratulate the DM Roosevelt team on their impressive win in PF at GMU, which featured a pretty fierce outround field (and I believe one of their teammates - also a great PFer - won extemp!). From what my students told me, and what we saw last year at GMNC, DM Roosevelt is a really amazing program.

On another note, for teams that are not exclusively focused on LD, I would HIGHLY encourage you all to check out the GMU Patriot Games tournament next year. We decided to opt out of the LD tournaments on this weekend since we have a sizable PF, Congress and Speech team this year. Needless to say, we were REALLY impressed. Setting aside the friendly atmosphere, ability to enter a zillion different events, the fact that the tournament ran on time, and the really amazing competition from all over the country, this tournament actually had FIVE judges in rounds from quarters of PF up, and a similar experience in Speech. And the judges were, by and large, some of the best I could imagine in their areas. The number of former national finalists and national finalist coaches in the pool was just astonishing.

Just another option worth considering for the teams that do multiple events. Whitman will definitely be returning next year.

For those who care, here are the 16 Octofinalists in PF at GMU - which is a GREAT tournament, and a Semis TOC bid in PF. I won't bother to post the schools because if you care about this, you probably know the debaters (Tourney is using a code system with first two letters being school). I posted the full names for the Whitman kids, but don't know them for the other teams. Congrats to these Octofinalists:

AD120/125 (Barrire/Robinson)
AG157/165 (Brazil/Hermanto)
AI185/186 (Alex Edelman & Aaron Schifrin)
AI187/188 (David Winer & Ellen Noble)
AI191/192 (Ben Lewis & Elena Stojic)
AI203/204 (Bruno Velloso & Richard Scordato)
AJ207/209 (Strong/Oman)
AJ208/210 (Shrobothe/McCabe)
AR263/264 (Sinanam-Singh/Friedman)
AT272/278 (Silagil/Zaharin)
AV280/281 (Welsh/Klinger)
BD353/466 (Musella/Cobos)
BM423/424 (Frye/Potter)
BM427/428 (Lenard/Divecha)
BZ575/576 (Woodford/Zhao)
CJ711/712 (LaRunte/Bordellon)
