Justin Pearce Wins USC Title

LOS ANGELES, Cali. — It’s homecoming weekend here at USC. Thousands and thousands of USC alumni have arrived back for an all-campus tailgating party. Amongst all of the hoopla, the USC Debate Team hosted the David Damus Trojan Championships. The final round featured Esperanza High School’s Justin Pearce and Polytechnic School’s Stephen Wu. They debtaed in front of a panel of Jacob Levi, Corbin Cass, and Tim Case. On a 3-0 decision, the panel awarded the Trojan title to Justin. Congratulations to both finalists! (Coaching credits and extended results follow.)

Justin is coached by Suzanne Munsell. Stephen is coached by Melan W. Jaich.

    lol, no I had judges who could follow speed but would dock speaks not debaters. So I preffed wins of speaks a lot. I was still 2nd seed because I was 6-0 in prelims.

    man, i beat both finals debaters in prelims… they beasted out rounds though, so they definately deserve it. especially good job to esperanza’s justin pearce, he beat the 4th seed, then the 5th seed, then the 1st seed to get to finals — and he entered out rounds as the 13th.

    Good work Jordan! Quarters at your second tournament is extremely impressive. Not to mention JV.

    Also, congerats to Nicole for getting 4th Speaker in Varsity. Even though you didn’t do so well in prelims, you still fared very well.

    yeah justin stepped it up fo sho. and yes, there were a few plastered usc guys giving us beer… in fact, before my round against saad, some wasted student handed a beer to justin… THAT EXPAINS THE WIN

    That’s explains it Michael. It must have been the beer. Moral of the story: Beer = victory. Probably not the best moral, but I think it’s the only one we’ve got for now, so it’ll have to do.
