Day One in our hero’s dyspeptic journey into liberal-arts hell: WHERE ON EARTH IS THIS PLACE? The alternate dimension of Walla Walla, WA ought be abolished off the map. Discuss. The machinations of Whitman are strange and unknowable, what are we but beings within the scope of its realization? Perpetually mine debating hath been bogged down in the bizarre and sometimes over-logical confines of this realm, the crown jewel of WA debate. The question is, which bright-faced orator will take home the title this year? Who will suade’ (the per slows me down) the parents, coaches, and parli-kidz of the greater NW area that they deserve to represent us @ the TOK. So again I ask: WHERE IS ME? Similar to the plaintive cries of woe is me echoing from the mouth’s of a hundred scrooged proles, I long to know the future of me and myne. The shining lights of Walla Walla call my name over and over, dost thou know me? Thy will be done Walla Walla, 3 rounds in, sleep deprived, stolen food in my belly, I long for you tragically.

dear siddhartha,
take heart, lone ranger! you are not alone! the ghosts of thoreau, alexander supertramp, and elvis follow thee into the wild night that is walla walla. thy faithful hedgehog wesley is always at thy side as you stride forth down this hero’s path and into the light. but be wary, o faithful and intrepid wanderer, of false openings and trickery. resist the siren song of theory and highfalutin’ rhetoric. for the wind is fierce but, alas, ephemeral. and the stone, the rock, the island, will out in the end.
go bainbridge! a new generation of HEGEMONY starts now!

I know, I know, don’t worry people; I’ve contacted the monks of Shanti Ashram to accept rebar into their ‘Cosmological Rehabilitation and Methadone Clinic’ located in southern india. They will cleanse his spiritual core with linanment oils and help him kick the junk with a ritual of daily canings and verbal humiliation. They did wonders with Jeremy during his dark years and I’m optimistic they will help Rebar out of his cyberschizoid poetic outbursts. updates as they are available.

oh, and apparently i may need to send gans to southern india too, though i doubt he’s in it as bad as rebar…a hedgehog?! Thanks gans. :)

Day Two (or, the encounter between our hero and the indomitable will of the tab room): Can we count a 4th round BYE as the ultimate compliment to the intrepid and the half-mad? Chimps throwing the sticky-icky against the wall apparently have worked in the past, perhaps this barbaric path was meant for Murdock as well? HMM and the AT were meant for greater things, and while we don’t look down on our erstwhile brethren, it is certainly not the ideal option (At least to my aesthetics). The perfect form is long and far from our grasp, Platonic but accessible only to the few, the proud. How do we protest, how do we phrase our complaints, how do we accept what has been given us with a grace that would transcend the vulgarity of our actions? I wish I could be peaceful and easy-breezy-beautiful, but the desire won’t let me, it gnaws at my aorta like a giant boll-weevil, joining hatred krazy. We have sallied forth from base-camp, freezing snow biting at our heels and alternating with sweltering jungles of mute lepers and swinging vines, a search party headed directly into the heart of darkness. Our spearhead is a strapping native lad, machete in hand, haze/wreath of exhaled narcotics ‘round his head, chopping his way through the wilderness of http://WWW. Metallic chains and strange omens adorn our fair Patrique, and his fate is as un-assured as the fortunes of Monte Carlo. The party is restless, no natives look askance at us, ambivalence as offensive tactic.
AH! Relief, satisfaction, release. In a nomadic wasteland, searching for that which could not exist, we found the promised land. BuchW and I explored the notions of capitalism and dress via round 6. the packers were present, as was the NEVADA KID. The glory of this confection was not to be trifled with. I personally, was very impressed by the B-Dub’s argumentz, and Uncle JUJU would have been proud to view this round. Requests of materials from said round will be provided on request, a psychadelic book club for the forgotten and banzai-crazy. This is the strat, this is the beacon, hope springs eternal and clear as gold, the beauty and majesty that we’ve always sought on our jungle party. Alas, hope may spring eternal, but happiness is fleeting and insubstantial. This portion of our journey must be forgotten, taken into account, filed away, but left dormant for now nonetheless. In the late nights of WWW, hope slowly morphs into depression, catatonia, the desire fills once more, hunger/enemy at the gates. CLARITY TRUMPS SPEED EVRY TIME. Blood on the tracks, get ready for action grunts, the zero-hour approaches for invasion.

NOTE: In TWO rounds, the ballots were filled out on 2-1 decisions contrary to dislosures- tab ruled in favor of what was on the ballots, not what was in the disclosure. Thus, Greenawalt is in for Bigelow and Schif is in for Sivitz.

LuLu - I am soooo proud of you. You amaze me, and I am flabbergasted by your intellect and abilities. I hope you are proud of and pleased with the results of your work and your performance at Whitman.
Greg - Congratulations to you as well. You were superb in the round and a gentleman as well. As proud as I am of LuLu, I am equally pleased that her competitor in the final comported himself with such dignity and courtesy toward his opponent.
