SANTA MONICA, Cali. — Victory Briefs will be providing coverage of this weekend’s tournaments taking place around the country.

  • Valley: Edina’s Ben Holguin defeats Los Altos’s Daniel Moerner on a 4-1.
  • Yale: Sacred Heart’s Shadman Zaman defeats Trinity Prep’s Jake Nebel on a 7-0 decision in finals. Walt Whitman’s Ben Lewis defeats Hunter College’s Cara Eckholm on a 4-1 decision in J.V. finals.
  • Houston-Memorial: Kinkaid’s Becca Traber defeats Bellaire’s Muthu Alagappan on a 3-0.
  • AU: Walt Whitman’s Jacob Levitt defeats Archbishop Carroll’s Anthony Myer on a 6-1.

    For St. James, I don’t have to results packet yet, but the semifinals were something like:
    Mt. Brook CH def. Jesuit (I forgot)
    McCallie AM def. Vestavia RM (Rusty Mawn)

    The quality of judging and the problems that the odd scheduling of it (3 prelims on Friday that ended at 12:0 and 2 prelims on Saturday plus Quarters breaks ending at 7:00 PM) made it a pretty frustrating finals bid tourney… It may be because TMac left for grad school so the tournament director was new at running a tournament, but at least they HAD a tournament…
