The team is chosen or at least was for this squad by a workshop/qualifier event. 20 were chosen from the applicants to be invited. You had to learn the format, style, and did many practice rounds. And yes, Ireland is an excellent squad.
Go Greg squared, Mostafa, Stephanie, and Reid!

We are getting ready to oppose Scotland. The resolution is: This house would force organizations to place more women in senior positions.
Scotland is proposition and USA is opposition. Our lineup for the round is:
1st prop – Mostafa
2nd prop – Hertz
3rd prop – Reid
reply speech – Hertz
The judges are:
Clare Ryan – New Zealand (chair)
Elizabeth Sheargold – Australia
Samuel Lin – South Korea

As an honest question: was it controversial that Scotland came in with its team flag prominently displayed, or was that just seen as cute? I am sure accents give it all away, but I suppose that\’s not the point. I cannot imagine a student walking into a round at the Glenbrooks displaying her big team school logo in front of her desk.
Congrats on making it to octas! Pretty awesome stuff.

it wasn’t controversial that they had a flag- we had an eagle for the majority of the tournament. this round was really close; we all thought that we won the round. it was a funny round- i opened the reply “don’t be fooled, just because scotland is wearing kilts doesn’t mean they represent women the best.”

Not to be a sore loser about the US defeat, but I wonder if the US’s less-than-ideal standing with the rest of the world sometimes fostered bias against the American team.
