We have free wi-fi at Bellaire HS. (policy location)
The judges meeting is starting 14 minutes late. The judges instruction sheet has a typo that indicates there is a third negative rebuttal. 2NR’s everywhere rejoice

while that reply is uh…interesting, i was looking more for circuit people who made a conscious decision not to attend this year. the concentration seems lower this year than in years past.

Good job Balil you are amazing congrats
and mangus is right the concentration does seem lower than before
Posted from: 208.120.31.99

Maybe it’s not the lack of ‘circuit debaters’ opting of attendance but maybe they didn’t qualify?
Posted from: 74.227.225.226
May 27th, 2007 19:24
ok, if thats true then it begs the question of why they would qualify in years past but not this year, which is equally interesting.

ridge high school is located in da hood. it can often be spotted surrounded by playas, hatas, and the occasional p-i-m-p (must be spelled out). we roll in our benzos along wit (o)edipus, J-Dawg Juniah, and a mysterious portuguese man whose true identity we have yet to ascertain.

the wiki says zehner is from ridge hs, (?). the article above says hes from “St. Joseph’s Preparatory School.” maybe the bigger concern is figuring out where he actually goes to school, but id assume this ridge the same new jersey ridge thats already mentioned on that wiki entry.

“post[ing] the results packet online”? You must be joking. We have to wait until it is mailed to us by the rulers of our archdiocese.

congrats to both of the finalists. also, congrats to zayn siddique, for whom i was judging this weekend, and who seemed like a nice guy that really deserved a semis showing, and to david donatti, for representing houston. finally, a special congratulations goes out to vicki guarino. vicki, you’ve improved a ton this year and i’m glad to see you finish with such a strong performance.

5 in the top 32 isn’t too bad for the state of Pennsylvania. If a kid from Erie had went to qualifying, we probably would have taken 6 spots in double octas.

cfl started as an organization of catholic schools i think. their history page seems to indicate that (”The National Catholic Forensic League is an organization originating from the Catholic secondary school community in the United States for the purpose of providing a service to all secondary school students.”)
interestingly, they also welcome canadian schools to participate.

Gandalf - unfortunately, I haven’t received anything from our diocesan moderator; we are not even sure of our debaters’ prelim records. As soon as I have the information, I’ll post it. (If someone out there already has it, please post!)

UPDATE! My packet just came today. Thank you, Charlie Sloat!
I’ll have the results updated shortly. Our director of Individual Events has the speech results, but I’ll get those up when I get the packet back.

Wow, if quarters were paired correctly, this is what it SHOULD have looked like.
(12) Walt Whitman MM vs. (8) Hunter College ZS
(15) Celebration KA vs. (23) Trinity CS
(3) Ridge SC vs. (22) Charlottesville TT
(13) James Logan BM vs. (12) St. Joseph’s Prep RZ
Well, I guess mistakes happen all the time, including quarterfinals of a national championship. Besides, the LD tab room did work really hard this weekend, and ultimately, only 1 debater out of each of those rounds above advanced to Semis (thereby naturally correcting the quarters pairing).
Oh well.

Sorry, Marco should be listed as seed (17) in the above but you get my point. I haven’t seen the packet to verify the sides, but again, I guess this all gets filed in the OH WELL category.
