NFL Announces Public Forum Rules Change
Happy April Fools’ Day from Victory Briefs Daily!
RIPON, Wisconsin – The National Forensic League today released a statement clarifying the rules for Public Forum Debate at the 2007 National Speech Tournament.
In response to positive feedback regarding the Grand Crossfire, the NFL Executive Council has amended the structure of the round to accommodate the new “Stupendous Crossfire.”
“The spirit of the free-flowing cross-examination period has not diminished,” explains the statement. “Indeed, it is enhanced with an expanded format. In addition to allowing all four debaters to participate, the Stupendous Crossfire will also allow for questions from the judge, the coaches, and no fewer than three representatives from the tabulation room.”
“All participants are encouraged to talk at the same time as one another,” the statement concludes.

“Stupendous Crossfire,” cmon, you could have thought of a more believable name. That being said this was still pretty funny when I first read it. Good one.

I actually laughed out loud.
This is as funny as google’s “throw the wireless antenna down your toilet and we’ll hook it up for you at our router in the sewer’s” joke. Or the one where they said they’d print all your gmail e-mails for free.
Anyway, being largely ignorant about PF debate, I very much fell for this…
Nicely done!
On a side note, is “Grand Crossfire” also a joke, or is that serious?
