Patrick Mahoney Claims Greenhill LD Title

octos (and quarters) are both exactly 50/50 vbi/nsd. who will come out on top?
Posted from: 68.234.178.226
September 17th, 2006 14:22
byron and elyse also attended vbi. besides that is a silly rivalry to set-up. and around 20 of the 32 who broke attended vbi at one time or another. its silly, though. camps don’t produce champions. that takes away too much from the hard work during the season and the work of coaches.
Posted from: 68.234.178.226
September 17th, 2006 14:24
Hey – no need to start with this. We should be giving kudos to debaters and their coaches… not the camps they attended. It is far too early in the season to start!
Congrats to all of the debaters.

Congratulations to Patrick on such a tremendous win! I will continue to remind him at all opportunities that I called it all when he was a freshman and I judged him in a J.V. outround at Harvard. Honestly. I did.
I’d also like to take a moment to express a MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR congratulations to Lisa Ha and Kristina Gunnarsdottir from Bronx Science for making it into the outrounds!!! We are all very, very proud of you.
I’ve been very impressed with the hard work that our new head policy coach Sarah Heaton has been doing with our policy debaters — and been inspiring the students to do — and it is already paying off. She is truly the model of a coach and a colleague.
Sarah, and our assistants David Marks and Todd Fine, have each been contributing so much to make this season (and, in Todd’s case, last season) important ones for our policy squad and our program overall. I know I speak for everyone when I say how proud I am of Lisa and Kristina and of our coaches.
Congratulations to all who cleared!

Ann -
I, too, wish we could get policy debate. Unfortunately there isn’t the same culture of reporting results to a website in policy as there is in LD. We would be absolutely elated if someone would provide us with results so people in policy could enjoy the same coverage as people in LD. Thanks for reading, though!

Not to mention that generally, no one who posts regularly on VB judges policy on a regular basis – and people between the two events rarely share schems (I’m reminded of GBN, where I went to find Cruz and wound up being the one showing Timmons that his team cleared).

as justification for my vacuous argument, allow me to present an example of the opposite being the case.
