After round 12, we’re down to 6.
After Round 13, we’re down to 3 or 4.
After Round 14, we’re down to 2.
And after Round 15, we only have 1.

A. Pairing the Undefeated Bracket
1. Pair undefeated teams against undefeated
teams.
2. Teams should alternate sides, if possible.
3. Method:
a) On a table at the left, place the registration
cards of teams with more “negative”
debates who should debate “affirmative” in
the next round.
b) At the right, place those with more “affirmative”
debates who should debate
“negative” in the next round.
c) Hold back any which have had an equal
number of “affirmative” and “negative”
debates to even the shorter column.
d) If still unequal in number, move cards from
the side with “more” to the side with
“less.” Choose those cards by blind lot.

I take this to mean while alternating is preferred it’s not preferred over matching undefeated vs undefeated
