Topic For Debate: Where are the Orators?
Posted by Bietz in the Topic for Debate categoryToday I was searching through the world wide web trying to find a Jesse Ventura campaign speech. I came across a website called AmericanRhetoric.com. I started to poke around a little bit and noticed that they had a ranking of the Top 100 American Speeches. Are we in a time when the Art of great speaking is a lost art? Since we live in a world of soundbytes, where even the majority of television stations do not carry the State of the Union, are we losing the grand, inspirational speeches of yester-year? If so, is that good or bad? If not, what are some of the great or at least important speeches of this generation?
