Posted by Jon Cruz in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate categoryNEW YORK, NY - More than a few debaters and coaches have had the unparalleled “privilege” of experiencing a ride in the Cruzmobile set to the tune of one of my iPod playlists. Some of these songs, over the years, have become something of a personal debate soundtrack. What songs do you find particularly motivational for debate? Congratulations to our 2004 Alumni
Posted by Bietz in the VBI@UCLA 2004, 2005 categorySANTA MONICA, CA - As we continue our countdown to this summer’s session, it is an honor for me–as the curriculum director of VBI@UCLA–to recognize the following debaters for their achievements during the 2004-2005 season. Our staff works extremely hard so each student is able to attain their goals in debate. Certainly, this list is not exhaustive in its scope in the accomplishments made by our alumni. These, however, are some highlights that show success at the highest levels.

LD and the Search for Truth
Posted by Ryan Davis in the Guest Opinion Pieces category“Watching a few debates nationally and your TOC videos this year,” writes Ryan Davis, “it has perplexed me that even at the highest levels, debates about very specific questions of polictical theory can be strangely removed from contemporary discussions among political theorists about those very issues. While I think there are possibly strategic rationales for such choices, I think it may result at least in part from certain institutionalized features that may not be desirable.” Davis touches upon these very issues and more in a guest opinion piece here on VBD.
