joe vaughn and i agree: best final round in a long time and three good judges so far.
now i’ll take odds on tt winning. vegas has her as a 3:1 underdog.

So so SO legit. Can Tara repeat, or will Jeffers seize the crown for himself?
The suspense is just killer.
Any news on Congress…please?

IF things are on time, the awards ceremony should have started sometime between a half hour ago and now.
And I agree with Cherian (and I guess Joe Vaughn, who was a great time keepker ;) ), this was a great final round and the best in my trips the Grand Nationals.
Congrats to both Tara and Douglas; both of whom I saw debate very well this weekend. You both deserve it, and thanks for making the Milwaukee CFL Nationals memorable for all.

Wow…the curse of the one seed continues. I think now in 3 of the past 4 years, the one seed has gone down in doubles. And if I’m not deeply mistaken, all three of those one seeds were from my CFL league (Deich, Dean Razavi, and…Chris Carr?)

i owe some $$, the ncfl has proved me wrong for once. well, twice actually…congrats to summer at the center intern, kevin troy, who continued his dominance in the world of extemp by winning the first ever tiger woods trifecta (toc, cfl, nfl in different years) in extemp and who is on his way to a superfecta!
he clearly beat out the competition this weekend with ranks of 1,1,1,1,4 in the final round in addition to an octos-semis cumulative score of 4. (those are added to get final placing) while somewhat expected, congratulations indeed! i think there’s a vbd interview with him somewhere, right jon? :)
most speech results are available at the connection, http://www.center4publicspeaking.org/cgi/wordpress
photos and complete results are coming soon…

Does anyone have a flow or summary of the round? It would be interesting to compare the final round of NFCL with the final round of the TOC or NFL Nationals.

I just want to thank Mr. Vaughan for being an extemp master. I religiously followed everything he said, and I would’ve been lost without him. I know he’s primarily known as an LD coach, but the man knows extemp outrageously well.
Also, congrats to Kevin. He was in my rooms during quarters and semis, and there’s no way I got a single 1. I’ll be away during NFLs, but we are sending three prodigious freshmen in extemp. Watch out.

I’m rather shocked that Kevin Troy got a 4 rank from a judge in the final round — he was clearly head and shoulders above the other contestants in the round (indeed, also beyond anything I saw in the quarterfinal and octofinal that I observed).

Pictures are indeed forthcoming! Stay tuned. Now that our New York system is finally fully functional - that is, my computers have been repaired! - these photos, and long-lost photos from the Iowa Round Robin, will be included in updates soon. As I am currently in transit from Wisconsin, the NCFL photos will be on the site today or tomorrow.
