Loren Eastlund, Katie Poulos are Southwest Round Robin Co-Champions
LITTLETON, CO - Ernie Rose and Graham Safty have reported in on LDDebate.org with the results of the fourth annual Southwest Round Robin, held this weekend in Colorado. Congratulations are in order to two intrepid debaters from Minnesota, Loren Eastlund and Katie Poulos, for being declared co-champions. Loren finished first in ballot count. The two debaters from Highland Park Senior High School had previously met in the prelims and did not debate a demo round.
Loren and Katie are coached by Dave McGinnis.
Safty explained why there was no demo round: “Typically the results of the Southwest are determined by the outcome of a final round between the two debaters with the highest total ballot count. In this case the final round would have paired Loren and Katie against each other, which officially made for a Highland Park closeout.”

At the SWRR, Loren and Katie were coached by Kendra Oyer, which explains why they did well.
