Victory Briefs Tour Materials Available

posted by Victor Jih on December 28th, 2004

Thanks again to the hundreds of students and coaches who joined us December 27 and 28 at the Victory Briefs Tour around the country in Des Moines, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York, Oklahoma City, Orlando, San Jose, and Seattle.

If you weren’t able to join us at the Tour, you can still get copies of the materials. They are available for immediate download in the Victory Briefs Store. First, you can get a copy of the special Tour evidence book, which contains 75+ pages of additional evidence on the church/state topic (this is in addition to the evidence in the topic handbook).

More importantly, you can also get a copy of the national curriculum, which includes contributions from all of our staff. The book is over 115 pages and includes the following material on the church/state topic:

Introduction to Lincoln-Douglas Debate (Elizabeth Wrigley-Field and Daryl Pinto)
Introduction to the Topic (Andrew Garvin and Andy O’Connell)
The Affirmative (Max Stevens, Oscar Shine and Leah Halvorson)
The Negative (Tommy Clancy, Eric Palmer and Pat Fitch)
Thoughts on Critical Theory (Josh Marshall, Larry McGrath and Stephen Babb)
Writing a Case (Doug Lieb)
Researching the Topic (Seamus Donovan, Pat Fitch, Jon Cruz)
Introduction to the Law (Seamus Donovan)
Democratic Theory (Sarah Smith, Jon Cruz)
How to Refute (Vikrum Aiyer and Steve Schappaugh)
Blocking (Ryan Lawrence, Oscar Shine, Julie Bills, Jon Cruz)
Political Liberalism and Communitarianism (Nathan Foell)

All of this material is available now in the Victory Briefs Store.

I attended the VBI tour and was very impressed by the quality of the tour curriculum packet. I suppose part of my elation came from hearing the oh-so-awesome lectures, but the quality of the curriculum packet is still better (more in-depth) than the average Victory Briefs topic analysis overview.

One of the debaters on my team attended the your in NY, and I was very impressed too by the quality of the tour packet…i especially thought the sections by babb, josh, and larry were very thoughtful, well-written, and useful; also, the sections geared to novices are very good introductions to basic ld theory and skills
