IN US finals, 231 (Erin Lopez and Jordan Myers, Jay Robinson HS, NC) defeated 141 (Adam Kretz and Gage Mazurowski, Mesa Ridge HS, CO) on a 2-1 ballot. GRRRRR.

The final round of PF Debate was horrible. It was so clear that Dane and Jeffery won that round. I do not know ANYONE who disagrees. In fact, I thought that it would have been a 10-1 or 11-0 decision in their favor. I have no idea how a team that had no evidence and no ability to defend themselves could lose that round.
    Anyone disagree??

The round in general was horrible: the competitors were treating it like ‘Policy-lite.’ There was no clash in Cross-x, (cases were merely reconfirmed) and it soon became a battle of evidence. I think it was judged as a Public Forum round, instead of a Policy round: Dane and Jeffrey might have won on the flowchart, but Emma and Patrick were more persuasive, and more effective at getting their point across to the judges.
For those of you who saw it, the International Division finals were a far better example of Public Forum debate: no Policy, no Values, no Cards… just snappy rhetoric and good honest clash.

I would have to disagree with Jason. I was debating and I didn’t think we should have lost on an 11-0. We had beat that team a day earlier and you might notice we didn’t lose a round the entire week, I really think you have no idea what it is like to debate in front of a thousand people. I can admit it wasn’t our best round, but until you get up there I think you have little right if any to try and tear all the debaters down. Also, who ever said Public Forum can’t use evidence. I think anyone would agree that a little proof on anything is a good idea.
