posted by duby on April 28th, 2004

The final round was between Jenn Miller (Aff) vs Eric Palmer (neg). The judges were Dave McGinnis, myself, and the students made up one ballot. It was a 3-0 for the negative. The student vote (making up a vote for the aff) was a 3-2 with Graham Safty and Katie Poulos on bottom.

This year the Round Robin only had one wheel, so the participants are (No particular order):

Matt Davis
Eric Palmer
Graham Safty
Dan Sheehan
Jenn Miller
Hirsh Jain
Katie Poulos

The final round was between Jenn Miller (Aff) vs Eric Palmer (neg). The judges were Dave McGinness, myself, and the students made up one ballot. It was a 3-0 for the negative. The student vote (making up a vote for the aff) was a 3-2 with Graham Safty and Katie Poulos on bottom.

Also in the very special old fogies debate Michelin Massey debated Dave McGinness and all the students were given a ballot. The decison was a 5-2 for Michelin.

The round robin also featured a lecture by Professor Laura Johnson, a member of the Univ of Denver economics department, talking about the job/environment trade off myth.

Thanks to all that came, it was a great time!

No. I wish it was. Lets just say that Dave loves to dance, stomp, and yell during the 1ar. It was a site too see.

the round between mr. mcginnis and myself was only recorded in the hearts and minds of the youth who watched the shouting match of a debate.

some highlights for those eagerly anticipating information about the old school hacks debating…

mr. mcginnis had a very stacked case.
mr. massey ran topicality and answered back the case in *numerous* ways (i talked kinda fast).
mr. mcginnis danced and yelled during his 1ar.
mr. massey aggressively exclaimed his arguments s’more and extended the unanswered topicality argument.
mr. mcginnis concluded the debate with a crystalization.
