Adwait Parker Wins Vassar

Vassar finalists Neha Gupta and Adwait Parker
After an exciting weekend of competitive rounds and great judging, the Vassar Invitational has come to a close. In a final round ajudicated by Mike Bietz, Jon Helfgott, Peter Petraro, Jen Fluke, and Josh Plumridge, Schreiber’s Adwait Parker defeated Great Neck’s Neha Gupta to claim the varsity title. Congratulations to both! Adwait is coached by Jake Gelfand. Neha is coached by Jon Cruz. In J.V., Hope Reichbach of Hunter and Chris North of St. James met in the final round. A panel composed of Daryl Pinto, Charles Nerko, Katherine Brainard, Michael Keen, and Bro. John McGrory decided 3-2 in favor of Hope, who claimed the J.V. title. Again, a major congratulations to both, and to their respective coaches, Noel Selegzi and Michele Coody. Jon Cruz, who is also the tournament director, would like to thank profusely the army of volunteers from Randolph-Macon Academy for helping with clean-up and ballot pickup. They, led by their coach B.A. Gregg, were the key elements of the tournament running as smoothly as it did. Click below for results. OCTAS QUARTERS SEMIS FINALS CHAMPION – – J.V. OCTAS J.V. David, that was a pretty good round, too.
It’s just that Adwait ran you (as he would run me, were I still debating) right into a brick wall of VERY integrated, self-reinforcing philosophy. ;)
Major props to both of you for your skills, though. :)

Arcelius:
That was, without a doubt, one of the best rounds I’ve ever had the pleasure of debating. I hope you enjoyed watching it too (and not just in awe of Adwait’s superb case position too ;) ).

I’ve heard/seen worse spellings of my name. At least David’s was logical and somewhat phonetic. ;)
And that *was* a good round.

I’m sorry! Everytime I see the name I think “arcturus mengsk” from starcraft (yes I am a geek).
What can I say, I took a shot at it. And with the last name of “schraub” i feel your pain (I can’t tell you how many schem. sheets misspell my name)!
